If the reason in Nero and the updating of it doesn’t work, then you can find C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\DSFilter and replace the name NeroVideoProc.ax to 1NeroVideoProc.ax. After that, rename NeVideo.ax to 1NeVideo.ax. Reboot your computer.

If you have not Nero and the reason is in some other programs, then you can open: C:\Windows\System32 and find the lmpgspl.ax file. Then rename lmpgspl.ax file to 1lmpgspl.ax and then reboot your computer. If the error message still annoys you, then try unregistering lmpgspl.ax file, using these commands:

regsvr32 /u lmpgvd.ax
regsvr32 /u lmpgspl.ax
regsvr32 /u lmpgad.ax

Another reason of Rundll32 has stopped working Error can be DEP (Data Execution Prevention). DEP is the particular feature of Windows that stops the launch of those programs that can be run with some problems. Then you should switch of DEP, doing the following actions:

  • 1. Press Windows button + R button.
  • 2. Type bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOff in the command prompt.
  • 3. Reboot your computer.


If Host Process Rundll32 has stopped working Error appeared when you were watching images or video in Windows Explorer then you may try one more way. Open the following directory: My computer\Tools\Folder Options\View tab and put the tick in the “Always show icons, never thumbnails’ check-box.
